Handpainted Leather Journal - The Zodiac

This journal is bound in vegetal tanned leather, hand tooled and free hand painted in great detail. The theme of the journal is astrology, the zodiac with its symbols and representations disposed in a wheel according to the calendar. On the lower right and left handsides a God and a Goddess are represented, two mythological figures siting on a planet and on clouds playing music. The background is the celestial realm. The colors of the zodiac are inspired by the palette of the color wheel. 

The painting is made with leather paints and sealed so that it does not wear off during time. Patina was applied to the entire book with transparent glazes so make it resemble an old manuscript. 

The book measures 10.2 x 7.3 inches (26 x 18.5 cm). It has 126 pages (252 sides) of Favini mixed media artist paper. The paper is white, with a smooth tooth, hand torn and has 180 g/m². It is acid free, perfect for writing and sketching in any media, even watercolor. 

The endpages are made of hand marbled paper. The headbands were hand sewn in eight colors in the succession of the color wheel. 

This book is an art object. You can use it as a magic journal, a book of spells, a secret place to keep your thoughts.
