The theme of this journal is love, going back to the origins, a mythologic representation of our ancestors as Adam and Eve. The characters are depicted as impersonal shapes as they stand for any human being. The viewer is invited to interpret this composition according to their own feelings and beliefs. My concept is of a scene which perhaps takes place before the temptation even would arrive and separate the woman from the man, as the snake is not even present. Instead, white birds fly from one to the other like pure naked thoughts and ideas that are exchanged without restrains. Here no words are needed. The background is the sky, an anthropological representation of Eden.
This binding is one of a kind, unique in its hand painted and tooled decoration. It could serve as a companion for a personal journey, as a wedding guest book or a heirloom to pass to the next generations.
The notebook measures 7.2 x 10.2 inches (18.5 x 26 cm). It has 134 pages (268 sides) of Modigliani artist quality paper, white color, slightly textured and hand torn. It has 140 g/m² (for comparison, photocopy paper has 90 g/m²). It will work nicely for writing and sketching in any media, even watercolor.
The headbands were sewn by hand from ocher and blue thread and create a beautiful model at the head and tale of the book. The endpages are made of hand marbled paper.
