Leather journal with blind tooled decoration - Floral Lace

This journal is bound in veg tanned goatskin with beautiful grain and natural color. I designed it to have a textured, tactile look and feel. The decoration is made by free hand tooling in blind tooling technique, with heated brass tools. The tooling has a depth that gives it the impression of almost being embossed, with its intricate floral decoration. I wanted it to have the feel of a portal to forgotten knowledge.

The book measures 5x 6.8 inches (13 x 17.5 cm). It is filled with Favini Tree Free paper, 120 gsm. This paper is made solely with annual plants to reduce pressure on forests. It contains 75% bamboo and 25% cotton linters. These high quality fibers give a smooth and natural look as well as a soft touch finish. This paper it will hold well ink and dry media.

The headbands are hand sewn with beige and black colored threads. The endpapers are made of hand marbled paper with black, grey and brown veins.
